Frequently Asked Questions

Questions before getting started?

Here are a few common questions about evaluations, therapy, session options, payment, and next steps.

Getting Started

Do I need to know if I need therapy or an evaluation?

Not at all. That’s exactly what the free 15-minute consultation is for. Together, we’ll figure out the best starting point based on your needs, concerns, and goals.

Telehealth

Telehealth sessions may be offered when clinically appropriate and are typically determined after an initial in-person evaluation.

Community / In-Home

In-home or community-based sessions may also be available when clinically appropriate. Travel fees may apply depending on distance.

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept insurance?

Buckeye Speech & Communication is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly. A superbill can be provided upon request for possible reimbursement through your insurance company.

A reduced fee option is available for qualifying families. Documentation such as a SNAP approval letter or Ohio HEAP/PIPP notice of eligibility may be requested.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, healthcare providers are required to provide patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance with an estimate of expected charges for medical services, including speech-language therapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your scheduled service. You may also ask your provider for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises .
